Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform CFD simulation using existing ANSYS FLUENT Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) and Large Eddy Simulation (LES) best practices.

  • Integrate in-house thermal and icing models in CFD framework using UDFs.

  • Assist in developing new capability for modeling emissions, thermal predictions, flashback, autoignition and dynamics.

  • Work with GE’s Global Research Center (GRC), GE Aviation Combustion and GE Power Combustion teams in a collaborative manner to add modeling capability, share ideas, build business value models and synergize development priorities based on business needs and budget.

  • Participate in Design System Integration (DSI) activities to automate modeling initiatives and integrate capability with interfacing turbomachinery disciplines including compressor, frames and turbines.

  • Present modeling results, validation and upcoming milestone status to relevant design boards, leadership and technical experts belonging to GE’s GRC, Aviation Combustion and Power Combustion teams.

  • Leverage digital and machine learning techniques to improve capacity

  • Make recommendations after analysis of the data using quality tools. Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company

Qualifications/Requirements

  • PhD/Post Graduate degree from an accredited university with focus in CFD application and methods development

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with industry on CFD modeling

  • Good understanding of Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, CFD and Heat Transfer

  • Familiarity with RANS and LES turbulence modeling

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong familiarity with ANSYS FLUENT/CFX

  • Experience with creating structured/unstructured meshes using commercial packages

  • Experience with creating user defined functions and journal files

  • Familiarity with performing advanced CFD simulation in High Performance Computing (HPC) environments

  • Flexible to adopt work as per business needs and priorities

  • Ability to collaborate and co-ordinate tasks involving global team members

  • Strong cross-functional teaming, communication, and presentation skills.
